I’ve been experiencing this Gravatar issue for a little over a month. It took this long because mostly I’m not dealing with it. I kept on procrastinating about it because it wasn’t my top priority.
For the past week or two, I’ve been asking for help from the Happiness Engineers from Automattic. All of them were helpful, especially Dan Johnson. He was able to discover that the only reason my Gravatar image was not showing in my subscription emails was because from my Dashboard > Settings > Discussion > Avatars > Avatar Display > Show Avatars was disabled. It is working now. I’ve removed the fat cat image and the WordPress logo. I’ll just be using the default Gravatar logo.
If you’ve been seeing a lot of test posts, it was because I was testing if the Gravatar image was already showing in my subscription emails.
